Dishing Up the Dirt

mint-cacao banana smoothie

What can I say. Sometimes a girl just needs a little chocolate to help wake her up in the morning. Chocolate, country music, and beautiful views from Tumbleweed Farm can really help jump-start the day!

How many of you are morning people? I must admit, most mornings when the alarm clock goes off I want to hit snooze for the rest of the day. However, once we are out the door (and fully caffeinated)  I am constantly amazed at how much peace comes over me. No matter how groggy I may feel in the early morning, I am somehow optimistic about the day that lies ahead.

This particular (chilly) morning we had bellies full of a delicious smoothie and were hard at work harvesting for another farmers market.

We had another successful farmers market this afternoon in Hood River. It was a bit chilly and the wind was a out of control, however, we still managed to have a good time.

I think this smoothie had a lot to do with how happy and productive we were. What can I say, we all deserve a little chocolate in the morning. Grab a straw and slurp this puppy up!

In one of the wideshots of Tumbleweed Farm, there are several little structures that look like beehives!
Did I miss an earlier posting? Are you now keeping bees?
    If so, how cool!

      Beth,
I wish those were bees!!! We have a 20 acre apple orchard as our neighbor and those are all apple bins sitting empty waiting for the fall! We have talked about bee keeping and it is something we want to do sometime in the future.! Thanks for you sweet comment on my FB page about Henry. I wish you could meet him in person. He really is a great dog who has had a horrible past. We love him more and more everyday! He’s the best!

I am definitely a morning person and your mornings really do sound so peaceful to be working outside (and exhausting)

  3. I’m totally with you — it’s rough when the alarm goes off super early, but once I get up I absolutely love the peaceful calm that you only get when most of the world around you is asleep. this smoothie looks like a lovely combo.

  4. We drown banana smoothies like crazy here, but I never thought of cacao and mint. Nice! Very nice! And I love those mountains….

  7. Girrrrrl this smoothie looks so good. There’s been a ton of mint at the store lately, and I need an excuse to pick some up. Love that you’re a morning person, too. I hate life for the first few minutes after my alarm goes off. But once I am running or showering, I feel so much better, and it’s the best part of my day!

  8. That smoothie sounds delicious! I just got some raw cocoa powder and beans from Mountain Rose Herbs, I’m going to have to try them in this 🙂 And congrats on the successful farmer’s market! I love your stand, those vegetables are laid out so beautifully. And the view from your farm…..just .incredible.
