It’s been a wild week of weather here at the Farm. High winds, lot’s of rain and a power outage to shake things up. We’ve spent many hours shoveling loads of compost around the upper field in preparation for our first sowing of peas next week. The greenhouse continues to fill with starts and while it’s only about 1/8 full right now it will be completely full in 2 weeks which means we’ll be transplanting out into the field soon to make room for more starts in the greenhouse. It’s exciting and a wee bit stressful but we’re ready for a great season ahead!
We’ll be welcoming new baby chicks next weekend which is always an exciting addition. The older gals have been laying on a regular basis and most mornings there’s over 30 eggs waiting to be collected. Breakfast has been eggs in many forms and the past two days I’ve been making eggs in a basket which has been a nice change of pace.
Taylor continues to work on the deer fence and the whole thing should be complete in less than two weeks. The farmers markets start up again at the beginning of May so we have a few weeks of intense seeding and transplanting ahead. It’s getting busier by the day but it sure feels good to get back out there in the dirt! I’m dreaming of spring produce and can almost taste my first radish of the season!
What are you all most looking forward to sinking your teeth into this spring? Asparagus? Peas? Garlic scapes? Fresh greens? I’d love to know what you’re dreaming of! We’re still eating winter produce for a few more weeks but spring is definitely in the air here!

I have a year-round CSA. Got my first radishes yesterday. I cant wait for rhubarb, strawberries, and a change from cabbage!
haha! We’re still eating cabbage from last fall. I’m ready for a change too. Strawberries will taste amazing! Jealous of your radishes!!

Ramps and radishes are amazing. I think a ramp and radish flatbread sounds pretty darn great!
Sweet corn on the cob! That is my favorite summer vegetable next to a great tomato, but here in Florida, the tomatoes only get a B rating.
