Dishing Up the Dirt

fridays at the farm

September 27, 2013

Wow. It has been a long time since I have done a “Fridays at the farm” post. I thought it would be fun to capture the past couple of weeks at Tumbleweed Farm for you all. The weather is changing and we are gearing up for our slower season. We couldn’t be more thrilled to chill out a bit and enjoy quieter days at the farm!

Those beans are gorgeous. Do the purple ones hold their color when cooked? And your collards are perfect. No sign of a bug in sight. Great job. Take care.

      Hi Jean,,

The purple beans are my favorite!!! Unfortunately, they turn green when cooked, but I still love them! Our collard greens and kale have recently bounced back after a long battle with flea beetles. We are so happy with how healthy and happy they seem these days. Lots of collard green recipes are coming up soon!

  5. Looks awesome! Those purple beans are gorgeous. By the way, I’m doing a book tour stop in Eugene Oregon, that’s close to you, right? I’d love for you to stop by!

    1. Andrea says:

I totally want to make it out to Eugene for you book signing! When will you be in OR? It’s a few hours form our farm but I totally want to make the journey!

There’s nothing better than a sweet dog who lays his head on your shoulder 🙂 Great post on the Wellness Warrior. Have a super weekend!

    1. Andrea says:

Thanks! And yes, a dog on the shoulder is the absolute best!

  7. Gah-lee, those beans are gorgeous!! And that picture of Henry on your shoulder is so precious. Hope you get to rest a little this weekend!

    1. Andrea says:

Henry is the best at cuddling! And yes, those purple beans are my favorites!!! So pretty!

  8. Trish says:

my kale should be that big but I still haven’t transplanted it – we are dry and the bugs are awful!! I’ve got 60 plants sitting on my porch. They are going out this weekend. I got a row cover to keep the bugs out and filled up a tank of water in town to use. 200 gallons for $2. sweet!

    1. Andrea says:

The bugs were really bad for us too! we kept a lot of our crops under row cover as well. Let me know how yours end up doing!

  9. Joanne says:
