If you are lucky and have the holiday off from work or other obligations I have a few things that should help make the day go more smoothly. I’m not an expert about this stuff but I think some of these tricks should help you out!
10. Make a quadruple batch of cranberry margaritas. You can thank me later.
9. Make it a point to get some sort of exercise first thing in the morning before things get too crazy and you don’t have a chance to get any fresh air.
8. Slurp your breakfast down. This Maple-Cinnamon Sweet Potato Smoothie is festive and healthy. Can’t beat that!
7. Make these twice baked butternut squash with kale and quinoa to impress your guests. They’ll never suspect how easy and healthy they are. If you are spending the holiday solo this would also make a delicious complete meal for one.
6. Dusting off your Mariah Carey Holiday album is a totally acceptable thing to do now that it’s Thanksgiving.
5. If you’re in a bind and need a last minute side dish that takes no time to whip up this delicata squash and kale salad has your back!
4. If you are spending the holiday with someone else’s family I recommend wowing everyone with Spiced Apple Cider Champagne Cocktails. You’ll be the most popular person at the table!
3. It’s totally acceptable to have the T.V. on if the movie National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is playing. Otherwise, it’s best to keep that thing turned off for the day. (Clearly I’m not a sports fan!)
2. If you are scared to death because there is a vegan coming over to your house for Thanksgiving you can make this easy and delicious stuffed sweet potato to keep them full and happy. You can also serve them this delicious pumpkin pie mousse for good measure.
1. Remember to give thanks and savor all of the delicious food in front of you. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Happy Thanksgiving you three! And thanks for the great tips!
great list! I’d happy take any of those drinks!
I’m not a sports fan either…let’s keep that OFF of the TV tomorrow! 🙂
Have a happy Thanksgiving, Andrea! I will be enjoying beautiful Portland and Black Butte/Sisters, OR. I always love all of your recommendations- and I will be taking the Mariah Carey suggestion to heart!
You wrote #9 just for me, and I thank you! BTW, a proper Top 10 list counts backwards. No need to thank me!
Love,
Aunt Carrie
I totally wrote it for you and I know your vegan guest will survive! I’ll take this opportunity to thank you for the tip! Switched it up!!! Happy Turkey Day! XO
Gosh that all sounds and looks so delicious! I wish we celebrated Thanksgiving in Australia so that I could eat all those dishes and especially drink those cocktails! Enjoy 🙂
