Dishing Up the Dirt

the best stir-fry

June 15, 2012

What can I say…. Sometimes you need a good-old-fashioned stir fry to liven things up in your kitchen.

Stir-fries are amazing.  They are easy, quick, and for the most part you already have most of the ingredients on hand.  Win Win!

The highlight of this dish was the wonderful Tamari-Ginger sauce recipe my friend Ellen gave me. This sauce was so good I am literally going to put it on everything this summer.  It would be great as a salad dressing, dipping sauce, or of course a marinade for any of you summertime grilling. It is tasty!

We used this sauce on a  combination of brown rice, sautéed snow peas, red bell pepper, grilled tempeh, green peas, and onion. It was delicious.

For the sauce:

1/2 cup tamari

1/2 cup water

1 tbs rice wine vinegar

1 tbs grated ginger (or more)

1 clove garlic, crushed (or more)

1/2 cup minced scallions

2 tsp sesame oil (or a little more)

2 tsp sugar or maple syrup

1 tsp corn starch

Whisk all the ingredients together in a bowl and let stand for 10 minutes or so.  Serve over you favorite stir fry!

Garnish your dish with some diced scallion greens and toasted sesame seeds.

Enjoy!
