It is definitely Fall! Not only did I make a huge pot of chili tonight, but Taylor spent the afternoon up at the Farm pressing apples in a cider press. He came home with two jugs of freshly squeezed apple cider!!!! It is so good! Man are we lucky to work on a farm! Fresh apple cider? Yes please!
We enjoyed our chili with apple cider. It was the perfect meal to end an absolute wonderful weekend! Tomorrow should be a nice day at the farm. I think the weather will be chilly but nice. My dreams are coming true, I think the hot weather is done for the season! And if I am wrong, I think I will call in sick on the next hot day! I am officially done with heat stroke for 2010!
The chili recipe I made tonight can be found in my blog post titled farm fresh chili. You can search for the title and the recipe will come up. The only alteration I made was adding 3 jalapenos to the mix. I was in the mood for something really spicy! It did the trick! The apple cider was the best compliment to this meal!
Have a great night!
Hey Andrea,
Loving your postings. I just caught up at work. What an exciting adventure this year has brought you and Taylor. And Henry is pretty darn cute (though not as cute as Phoebe)!
By the way the best, fool proof, delicious roast beef recipe is by James Beard. I’ll look it up and send it to you! Miss you!!!!
Thanks Lindy!
We are loving the farm life! Very HARD work, but enjoying it all the same! I cannot wait to finally meet Phoebe, I love looking at her pictures on facebook! What a cutie!
Yes if you get a chance I would love for you to send the roast beef recipes from James Beard! That would be awesome!
Take care! Also, check out the NY Times home and garden section tomorrow! I will be featured!

Will Hutchins be selling cider? I would love to find some unpasteurized cider locally.
Hey Jean,
We wont be selling any of our own cider for legal purposes. Unpasteurized cider is tricky to find. We will be selling some apple cider from a neighbor farm, and when I get into work today I will see if it is pasteurized or not. However, I am guessing not. I will let you know!
I am guessing they have the same legal issues, too. On a happier note, we had your “chicken fingers for grown-ups” tonight and they are a hit. Easy and delish! Thanks.
I found your blog in my WordPress dashboard. I’m definitely bookmarking it.
All of your talk of apple cider is making me miss New England, where I grew up! I need to get home and get some cider!
The best part of New England I am finding out is apples!!! Apple everything! pie, cider, donuts! Can’t get enough!
