Dishing Up the Dirt

One of my old guilty pleasures around Christmas time was going to Starbucks for their holiday peppermint mochas. I don’t know what kind of crap they put into those things but they were addicting and I loved them!

Even though I don’t frequent Starbucks like I used to that doesn’t mean I still don’t crave my old favorite holiday beverage.  I took matters into my own hands and made this healthy alternative which just may be tastier than the real deal! I had the brilliant idea to freeze leftover coffee that we didn’t finish the other morning into ice cube trays. That was my secret weapon here!

Taylor and I gulped these down while we sat next to the wood stove (which is working again!) And now we are heading to the woods to cut down our Christmas tree. The holidays will be way more enjoyable with a Christmas tree, a working wood stove, and these delicious smoothies to wake up with every morning. Cheers!

  1. This is pure genius! I too have a recent addiction to the Skinny Peppermine mocha Latte at Starbucks, which is neither healthy nor good for my wallet. I have been trying to recreate it at home. Do you have a “hot” recipe you could share?

Definitely going to try this smoothie!

Why is it that I always want to be the third wheel with you and Taylor. Scoot over peeps, gimme a spot next to that fire, and if you’re so inclined, a sip of this delicious peppermint mocha smoothie! 🙂 These look amazing, dear!!

  4. YUM!! freezing coffee ice cubes is the greatest idea EVER.

  5. That wood stove needs to keep on chugging so you can keep drinking your cold smoothies all winter long! 🙂 These look amazing. I would totally kill for some mint and chocolate right now, and absolutely have to make these!

I do love a peppermint mocha every once in a while, but truth be told I’d rather have your healthier homemade version!

  7. Looks perfect and refreshing!

  8. Freezing left over coffee for smoothies is a fabulous idea! I’m sure this is ten times healthier then the syrups they use at Starbucks. It looks so thick and delicious!

  9. I love that you go out into the windows to cut down your Christmas tree. Your life is so magical.

    Also these mocha smoothies, OMGEEEEE.

  10. These look SO good. And I have everything on hand, except for the bananas and the festive straws!
