Dishing Up the Dirt

maple cardamom latte

It was a very busy weekend for us and I’m extremely thankful for this frothy beverage to help put a little spring into our steps today. There is something very ritualistic about our morning cup of coffee and I absolutely love sitting in the farm kitchen with Taylor sipping out of pipping hot mugs while discussing the days chores. It’s a sacred time of day and I look forward to it while I’m still lying in bed the night before. This morning we decided to get a little fancy with our morning brew and these lattes were a wonderful treat.

I don’t know about you all but cardamom is one of my absolute favorite spices. There is a bakery near the farm that makes killer cardamom rolls (White Salmon Baking Company) and coincidently we go there weekly to drop off produce that we sell to them. I obviously can’t drop off veggies without purchasing a few cardamom rolls to bring home. They’re to die for and were the inspiration for these lattes. I hope you all enjoy this coffee drink as much as we do. It’s warming, spicy, sweet and oh so tasty! Grab your favorite mug and whip these up soon. Cheers to a great morning!

  1. Love hearing that your inspiration came from cardamom rolls. Cardamom is one of my favorite spices too. This latte sounds so good, and I’m not even a coffee drinker. Though I can certainly appreciate the morning ritual you talk about.

Ooooh I adore cardamom! I worked at an Indian restaurant that made cardamom tea several years ago. I’ve been adding it to my hot drinks ever since. This latte sounds incredible!

  3. Such a smart idea using the blender to froth the milk!! I just made some homemade walnut milk and I bet it would work perfectly in this latte 🙂

I can’t wait to try this recipe! I discovered cardamom lattes at a cute cafe while visiting Astoria, Oregon, but I haven’t seen them anywhere since. I didn’t even consider putting the milk in the blender, I just figured I would need an espresso machine to replicate the drink. Good idea! Oh, and also…I have been baking Finnish cardamom rolls a lot lately, and they are my new favorite pastry. Soooo delicious.

So I’m trying to cut processed sugars out of my diet. Would this be too much of a cheat. I’m struggling to ever know if I’ll be able to enjoy coffee like I used to. Thanks for any replies! Shawn

Wonderful recipe once I got thru 10 clicks of join here join, email please, connect via, blah blah blah and when I thought I finally got the recipe it prompted me to do it all over again.
    Good grief. Fix it.

Maybe it was the vanilla essence (1tbsp seemed like a lot) but I thought this tasted strange. Good concept. I love cardamom

This was so good. I love cardomom and was looking for ways to use it. This was delicious!! I have a hard time doing non dairy products because they separate in my coffee. Putting it in the Vitamix helped keep it together and blend the spices. Yum!!

  14. Chris says:

Thank you for the recipe. Hubby and I went on a road trip to Bend, OR and I had the most amazing cardamon latte at a local coffee house. I think about it often… and now I can make it for myself! I sub’d oat milk but everything else was the same. SO tasty!

My daily latte is a favorite, nourishing moment I sink into every day. I don’t usually go in for anything fancy (other than lavender buds in the espresso basket), but I’m going to give this a try tomorrow morning. Looking forward to it. Thanks!
