‘Tis the gift to be simple, ’tis the gift to be free,
‘Tis the gift to come down where we ought to be,
And when we find ourselves in the place just right,
‘Twill be in the valley of love and delight.
When true simplicity is gain’d,
To bow and to bend we shan’t be asham’d,
To turn, turn will be our delight,
Till by turning, turning we come ’round right.
My mom painted this poem on the wall of my childhood bathroom. To this day it remains a favorite of mine and I thought it was perfect to share on this holiday. I hope wherever this post finds you that you all are surrounded by love, a good dancing partner and hopefully a tasty meal.
The farmer’s menu for holiday dining:
Appetizers of joy,
Salads of laughter
Entrees of peace
Desserts of hope
Fill the world with joy, laughter, peace and hope. Share a meal with others.
Cheers from your farmers at Tumbleweed,
Taylor, Andrea and Henry
Andrea, Taylor and Henry – thank you for the gifts you’ve given through your presence here on this site. Your photos, your stories, your recipes are treasures. Your apparent love of the earth and its bounty – your recognition of the seasons and whatever shows up as what is
and now your menu: joy, laughter, peace, hope – received within – and may it be so.
Andrea: Taylor and you are awesome! Your hard work and positive spirit (and great recipes) inspires us all.
Merry Christmas! Thanks for all the joy that you’ve brought to me this past year! (Can’t wait to see your new cookbook–Congratulations!)
Andrea:
What a wonderful idea your mom had putting this poem-song in your bedroom for you to carry in your head & heart through the years. I have not heard this in years. It is so brilliantly stated, yet simply said.
Thank you for sharing your gift with us each day. Your love shines through your words (and recipes).
May you & your family be blessed this coming year.
I’m excited to get your new Cookbook.
