About 2 months ago two lovely Pacific Northwest bloggers (Eva from Adventures in Cooking and Christiann from Portland Fresh) contacted me to see if they could throw a “pop-up” dinner at Tumbleweed Farm. It was going to be the second installment in a series of dinners that they are calling “Secret Supper PDX” The concept is a sit down dinner at a “secret” location where folks enjoy a slow paced 5 course meal. Tickets are sold in advance online via their websites here and here. Folks from around the Portland area showed up to the farm and we got to clink glasses and enjoy some really amazing food. To sum up the evening in one word- Magical!
Taylor and I didn’t have to do a thing- except harvest some of the food being served at the dinner but that’s it! For the first time ever we got to be guests on our own farm. How cool is that? The lovely ladies (and a team of interns) took over the kitchen while Taylor and I were busy working on the farm. We came in and washed up just in time for the 25 guests to arrive. The dinner was a slow, interactive meal with 30 minutes between each course so we could all chat and get to know each other. It was a lovely crowd and the food was outstanding.
Taylor and I have toyed with doing something like this ourselves for sometime now and it was great to witness a few pros make it happen on our farm. We’re thinking of introducing a couple of farm-to-table dinners at Tumbleweed next season and with the help of a few good friends, I think we can make it happen. I’ll keep you all posted!

Food really brings everyone together and these lovely ladies sure know how to throw an amazing dinner.
This coming weekend Taylor and I will be back in our farm clothes (dressing up last weekend was very short lived!) and we’ll continue to truck along with farm chores. There’s some talk of a few neighbors swinging in for a beer so we’ll at least have something fun to look forward too.
