More snow, plenty of chores, fresh eggs, hearty soup and my official signature on my book contract! It’s been a wild week here at the farm.
After 2 solid months of fine tuning the book contract I’m happy to share with you all that HarperCollins is my official book publisher!!! Not only has HarperCollins published a TON of amazing books but they just so happen to have published my favorite of all time– The Giving Tree pretty much floods my heart and soul with childhood memories and I know I’m in good hands with these guys!
Anyhow, aside from working on the book we’ve also been busy tackling other farm chores this week. Since the ground is frozen operation deer fence is on hold. Thankfully there is plenty of other chores that need tackling and Taylor has dedicated his free time to building a proper walk-in fridge to help store a lot of our freshly picked veggies. We’re chatting about the possibly of starting a small farm stand on the property and between the CSA, farmers markets and restaurant accounts we have, a large walk in cooler is necessary. Taylor has done a phenomenal job building the fridge and we’re stoked that our veggies will have a longer shelf life with this amazing addition!
Our 2016 seed orders and materials have been arriving at the farm daily and one of our UPS delivery drivers is so curious about our farm and CSA program that he and his wife are seriously considering joining our CSA! Honestly, I didn’t think I could love UPS anymore than I already do but this is next level.
Anyhow, this weekend we’ll be busy tackling a few more chores and organizing all the materials that have been arriving each day. It may be the dead of winter but the farm schedule has been fine tuned and seeding starts in the greenhouses next month. Yikes!!!
I hope this weekend you all are able to slow down a bit, enjoy a few drinks and some home cooked meals.

Andrea I have followed you guys since that article in the NYTimes ran so many years ago. I don’t comment often, but I read all your posts and I am just amazed at the path you guys’ lives have taken! WOW! Your story has been so great to follow and I’m just in awe of what you two have accomplished. I can’t wait for the book to come out!

Funny how life unfolds…you sign on as the live-in caretakers of Emerson House…the NYT does a story on that property, which gets your names out there…readers check out your blog, and love it (this is where I came aboard)…we follow your adventures as you walk down the aisle and move to Oregon (the Cliff Notes version of your story) …and now A BOOK DEAL!!!!
