Fridays at the farm

It’s taken us years to get to this point in our business but we are happy to report that we’ve hired our first official farmhand! The lovely Christine works part-time at Tumbleweed Farm and it has been AMAZING to have an extra set of hands out in the dirt. Taylor and I finally came to the realization that it wasn’t sustainable for only the two of us to do everything that the farm demands and even with a (very) part-time worker we can accomplish so much more.

Other news from the farm is that our CSA is in full swing and it’s been absolutely wonderful to reconnect with our former CSA members and equally thrilling to meet the new folks who have joined our farm family. We love that we drop our CSA shares off at Migration Brewing  so we can hangout, share a beer, and get to know the folks who are eating our vegetables. It’s so damn special and we feel so lucky.

This weekend we are gearing up for some really hot weather. The forecast is looking grim with temperatures predicted to reach almost 100 degrees. Regardless of the heat we still need to get a lot of work done and prepare for the farmers market on Saturday. If you live in the area swing into Hood River from 9-1pm and stock up on your veggies, fruit, and eggs for the week. We’ll be there and would love to see you!

I hope whatever your weekend plans are that they include some tasty food, a few cold ones and some good company.

Cheers from Tumbleweed Farm!

At our CSA, Stearns Farm in MA, the sharers are required to put in 12 hours of field work per full share (for the entire season), or pay an hourly rate to have someone “work for you”. I always look forward to the work and sometimes even volunteer to do more. Wonder if something like that could work for you guys at all?

LOVE how yummy your recipes are and how easy they are to prepare. I look forward to each email. Thank you!
